Lots of Lace

There is one absolute certainty for Autumn Winter 08- Lace is going to be everywhere. It was everywhere on the catwalk and will be everywhere on the high street. What I love about lace is its variety of designs and the interest that can be added by layering with other fabrics. It is both seductive and classic at the same time.

At Sophia Kokolaskia the lace like patterned chiffon dress is romantic and sexy. I love the pattern running down the dress.

This dress from Chanel is amn interesting design. The lace also has a great texture.

At Givenchy - The alce had a definite gothic style with this mini dress having a lace cross on the top section. The whole look was given a slightly more casual feel with teh boots and long black scarf.

Temperley London- Innocent white lace was contrasted with skinny black leather trousers and a black chained belt.

I love the delicate design in this lace dress from Stella McCartney. I also love the way it hangs off one shoulder.

The Prada collection for Autumn Winter 08 was full of lace. The big white pants underneath were an interesting effect!

At Luella lace worked brilliantly with the gothic look.

The Fashion No Mans Land

I am feeling in a bit of a fashion no mans land with Vogue and Elle encouraging me to move on to Autumn Winter clothes and Look and the like still tempting me with lots of lovely summer stuff. With the weather being as it is this year, I have had very little wear out of my summer clothes. I still have a beautiful cream chiffon dress for ASOS premium in the wardrobe with tags unremoved. I have been wanting to wear the dress but the weather has never been warm enough or my legs tanned enough.

So do I completely give up on summer this year and move on to Autumn Winter clothes? I just don't feel ready to give up on summer and I do still have my summer holiday which I hope will give me 2 weeks of almost definite sunshine. So with this in mind here some great bikinis I have got in the sales for my hols. As they are reduced I don't feel guilty that I will only be wearing them for 2 weeks, it is a very important 2 weeks (the only sun I will probably get this year).

Ondademar Shanghai Bikini This bikini fits perfectly as the top and bottoms are adjustable. I love the mixture of floral pattern and spots.

Salinas Melinda Bikini This bikini looks itsy bitsy but is actually really flattering. It is Rio cut to make your bum look great. Again its is adjustable and will look great with a tan.

Grungy!

Having spent most of my teenage years in a grunge phase. I would never have expected to be contemplating this look again, especially as a grown up and not quite middle aged thirty something. But I am indeed contemplating the grunge look again with relish, all be it a slightly more luxe and polished grunge than the first time round.

I guess the whole attraction of the grunge look (back in the days) was its complete ease of wear, relaxedness and comfortability which would actually suit my life style as a working mum perfectly. I blame the revival of my youth for Autumn Winter 08 on Burberry Prorsum and Luella, but can't wait to try out this great grungy new look.

Couture Cosmetics

I don't usually follow the latest beauty fads and trends but here is one I just can't resist. Viktor and Rolf Eye Lashes by Shu Uemera. The lashes were inspired by the character Pierrot and created for Viktor and Rolfs Autumn Winter 2008 shows. I love them they are over the top and thearical of course but would be just perfect for a big night out. The eye lashes are definitely couture cosmetics at their best. Kristian Aadnevik

pictures from www.vogue.co.uk

Norwegian designer Kristian Aadnevik, graduate of the Royal College of Art debuted at Milan Fashion week this season with an amazing collection of almost gothic glamour. Kristian has a firm foundation in fashion design after working for Alexander McQueen and Harrods, then setting up his own fashion label in 2004, he has become Donatella Versaces new protege.

His clothes include of glossy jet black feathers and fur contrasting with tight fitting leather creations and glitzy disco dresses.. The sexy and glamourous clothes tread a fine line between fairytale and nightmare with Kristian describing every collection as "like a film starring the heroines I dress; plots and stories change, but my muse remains the same, she is the protagonists who evolves and explores life". The details of his collections are couture like and the materials luxurious and decadent. I think his clothes are really original and I would just love to get the chance to wear them (one day!)

It looks like this winter is going to be one of dark and gothic clothes and interesting texture. I really love bright colours but I'm actually quite liking all of the interesting gothic details.

More Asymmetrics!

In my usual style, once I find some thing I love I go mad with it. At the moment it is asymmetrical tops and dresses. here are some more great ones:

This Lipsy top is my absolute favourite bright pink and I love the big bow (another big trend for next season)

This dress would be great for a special occasion. I love the shape and
detail at the shoulder.

This black top is great for most evening occasions. It will go with jeans or smarter trousers depending on where you are going.

Asymmetry

An Asymmetrical garment seems to have a very flattering effect with a top slimming the torso, a dress elongating the body and a skirt slimming the legs. I suppose the diagonal line tricks the eye into seeing a something as longer than it really is - a classic optical illusion. Asymmetrical clothes are everywhere at the moment from Grecian style dresses to draped tops and diagonally hemmed skirts and it doesn't just have to be the shape or cut of an outfit that has to be asymmetrical to make this trick work, a diagonal pattern will also have the same effect. Here are some of the best of flattering asymmetry that the shops have to offer.
